Schools
Our highly trained team can offer counselling sessions, supervision and training courses in a wide range of settings.
In schools we offer support to both students and staff. We can offer a tailored package of professional service options to suit a wide range of budgets. For teachers, our services enable them to keep their professional focus where it should be - on strong pupil relationships and inspirational learning.
Below are details of some of the ways we can support your school or college - please contact us to discuss your particular requirements.
Counselling in Schools
We have been delivering our Relate Safe Speak counselling service in Schools since 2002. Many schools have bought in our counselling services, meaning we are able to place a qualified, specialist counsellor on site, increasing pastoral provision in school and allowing for integrated working to support students. We are able to offer some counselling services for free in school, but schools can also ’top up’ the level of service by buying in additional support. We work in primary schools, secondary schools and colleges and deliver face to face and live chat services.
The opportunity to talk to a trusted, professional counsellor has a positive impact on many areas of children and young people’s lives. It can help increase their self-esteem and confidence, enable them to communicate better with their peers, teachers and families and increase their ability to focus and engage with learning.
All our counsellors work within a clinical framework of ongoing supervision and continuous professional development and are subject to regular performance reviews to ensure the highest professional standards. All Relate counsellors who work with children and young people are qualified to provide counselling, have undergone appropriate vetting and barring procedures, and are trained in child protection and safeguarding.
We also have close links with other agencies and often support schools with referrals to other specialist agencies.

John Flamsteed Community School, Ripley, Derbyshire - “…This was ultimately Debbie’s sensitive and caring nature which has enabled students to feel a sense of relief and more confident in their ability to deal and approach life’s problems and issues……. Our teaching staff have also commented and have noticed a change in the majority of student’s behaviour, confidence and anxiety level which has made a big impact in their lessons. Students have been really pleased with teaching staff speaking directly to them on how their confidence is more evident.”
Below is a selection of comments of students that have used the service:
“If I did not have a counsellor in school I would probably wouldn’t have spoken to anyone about my feelings at all.”
“I have really improved. They help by giving you advice and figure out where the main source of your problem is.”
“Seeing Debbie helped me understand how I was feeling and think of way I could help myself not to feel anxious.”
